Public Notice: Proposed Sewer Rate Increase
The City of Somerset is considering an increase to monthly sewer rates for residential and commercial customers. The City owns and operates its own wastewater treatment plant and has not raised sewer rates in the past five years. Due to increased operational costs, utility expenses, infrastructure needs, and regulatory compliance requirements, City Council is proposing a rate adjustment to ensure the continued reliability and sustainability of sewer services.

Proposed Rate Adjustment:
• Approximately an 8 percent increase for residential customers
• A typical residential customer would see an increase of about $4.00 per month
• The adjustment supports rising costs related to maintenance, labor, electricity, chemicals, equipment, and capital improvements

Public Hearing:
The Somerset City Council will consider this proposed sewer rate adjustment at a public meeting.
